Who We Are

Hello!

Dr. Franco is a board-certified osteopathic physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) physician. She attended medical school at the New York Institute of Technology - College of Osteopathic Medicine on Long Island. She then completed internship and residency in PM&R at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. During residency, Dr. Franco also certified in medical acupuncture through the Helm’s Medical Institute.

Her work experience includes outpatient non-operative orthopedics in Philadelphia, medical director of the first acute inpatient rehabilitation at Brown University Rhode Island Hospital and the VAMC in Northport, NY where she helped establish the first acupuncture clinic on LI for Veteran patients. She has served for the past 7 years as an assistant professor at NYIT-COM helping the next generation of D.O.s learn osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM). She incorporates low risk but high yield pain relief treatments for her patients using osteopathic manipulation and medical acupuncture because she sees such positive outcomes with these modalities.

Dr. Franco was a Division-1 college field hockey player so understands the commitment and dedication it takes to be an athlete and enjoys helping athletes return to play at any age. She also has a special interest in dance medicine due to her own daughter’s dance background. Rehabilitation is so important but Pre-habilitation is her favorite type of care - getting the body balanced to prevent injuries from happening in the first place.

Dr. Franco is an out-of-network physician. That means she does not contract with insurance companies. If requested, she will provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible potential reimbursement. This superbill will have all the information the insurance company would need to review and consider reimbursement straight to you.

Dr. Franco will take her time with you and treat you exactly how she would like to be treated. The medical field has been so regulated by insurance companies and hospital systems, it’s hard to even get a timely appointment these days! Being free from insurance companies allows us to return to the patient-doctor relationship. This gives you and Dr. Franco more time, energy and freedom to speak, examine, discuss and treat YOU as the patient and then together decide on the best treatment plan for your particular needs.

Dr. Franco feels so lucky to live in the best place in the world, here on beautiful Long Island with her husband and 3 very cool children. She loves to be present in their lives as the kids grow up. You can find them together at a beach in the summer searching for sea glass or snuggled up watching movies in the winter.

She looks forward to meeting you soon!
